EWEA Offshore Conference 2015

The European Wind Energy Association (EWEA)  holds its much-anticipated offshore wind conference in less than two months, in Copenhagen. It will be held at the Bella Centre Copenhagen from 10-12 March.

EWEA is the undisputed voice of the European wind industry, whose mission statement is to actively promote wind power is not just Europe, but worldwide as well. It has over 600 members, which are active in over 50 countries, making EWEA, arguably,  the world’s largest and most influential wind energy network.

The events ambassadors have been announced- and they represent people at the forefront of European wind energy: Samuel Leupold the Executive Vice President for wind power at DONG energy, Jens Tommerup of giant turbine manufacturer, Vestas and Michael Hannibal the CEO of Siemens Offshore Wind Power Division.

Why should you go? Well the EWEA Offshore Conference is a biennial event that brings all aspects of the wind energy chain from planning, investment procurement, turbine acquisition, building, commissioning, grid connection and maintenance, all under one roof. It is the world’s largest offshore wind energy conference.

Last year the conference attracted thousands of offshore wind energy professionals across the world (not just Europe). It is an awesome event for the garnering, sharing and utilisation of business intelligence about the offshore wind industry. There you will find altruistic and friendly potential business partners, manufacturers, developers, experimenters and more- all dedicated to promoting offshore wind.

EWEA was very busy last year. One of its key publications was the July 2014 re-assessment of the country by country plans for 2020 in the world of wind- following on from reports in 2009 and 2011. This report takes in the economic down-turn and makes for essential reading on the prospects for investment and green energy over the next half a decade.

The conference itself has assembled an array of industry leaders and Illuminati and the current economic circumstances, when many of us are tightening our belts, are not lost on the organisers- the topics for discussion over the three-day event include many on cost-savings, such as:

+ How turbine technologies, science and research and better resource assessment can bring costs down by 2020.

+Market research updates on the prospects for Europe and North America to break into the Asia offshore market.

+Environmental impacts

+How to secure industry finance for projects

+The latest in grid development to bring power to consumers.

See you there!
